Kathy Ann and Gage

Something I love about my job, is being able to see kids grow and change from one year to the next! It was my pleasure to photograph Kathy Ann and Gage for their annual family portrait again (you can see last year's here).
Here are some of my favorites from our session. I especially love the ones with the dogs!

Kathy Ann and Gage

I have a photo somewhere, probably in one of my grade school scrapbooks, of me and Kathy Ann (as well as half a dozen other girls) blowing bubbles in my parent's driveway at my tenth birthday party. 
Fast forward about 18 years and I'm driving down winding country roads to photograph Kathy Ann and her grade school aged son at their house!  It had been such a long time since I'd seen her, it was really cool to have our paths cross again!
Her house was way out in the country, so she had lot's of outdoor space to play with.  One thing I didn't notice till I was leaving was the really cool bridge on her road- I actually crossed it to get to her place, but didn't pay much attention to it since I didn't know where I was going and I was busy trying to find the house!  Anyway, Kathy Ann, if you ever need me to come take your photo again, we are totally going to that bridge!
So here are some of my favorites from our shoot (and I just had to share a photo of the super enthusiastic 8-month-old giant puppy... she really wanted her picture taken, too!)

 

Liz and Elwood

I had the pleasure of doing my first pet photo shoot today.  I must say, trying to photograph Mr. Elwood was very similar to trying to photograph a toddler.  A very ornery toddler who doesn't listen!  He is one very special doggy- lively and energetic, definitely one who has his own ideas of how things should happen.  Because he can be a bit unpredictable in new or controlled environments, we just hung out in my parent's fenced-in yard and just let him do his thing.  Seriously, I think this dog has ADD.  It was all we could do to get him to sit still long enough for the shutter to release!  Most of our time was spent just following him around the yard- he wanted pretty much nothing to do with me or the camera!  But with lots of treats and lots of loving, we had a good time this afternoon capturing some really fun photos.
